What exactly is In Costco's Blueberry Lemon Loaf?
Costco calls this a loaf, but don’t let the name fool you. Loaf is a very gentle name for what is essentially a pound cake.
The pound cake loaf is absolutely filled with fresh blueberries, with each slice having about five blueberries. The “Loaf” is topped with even more blueberries, streusel mix and lemon icing, which brings the lemon flavor. (More on the lemon flavor later)
The packaging is something that really sticks out to me about this blueberry lemon loaf. Most of Costco’s baked goods are packed in plastic containers or tin trays, but their blueberry lemon loaf is packed in a recycled paper box.
This gives the blueberry lemon loaf a bit of an elevated feel, and the box is recyclable as well.
Costco Cost Comparison
Costco’s new blueberry lemon loaf costs $8.99 and weighs 33 ounces or 2.06 pounds. Not exactly sure why they made 33 ounces instead of an even 32 ounces, but it is what it is.
The per-pound price of the blueberry lemon pound cake is $4.36.
After eating a slice or two or three, I have to say the blueberry lemon loaf is pretty darn good. I have a thing for blueberry and lemon flavor, so this was almost guaranteed to be a winner for me.
The pound cake was moderately moist, and the blueberries in every bite were a great addition. I have no complaints about the amount or taste of the blueberry.
I’m not a big sweets guy, so I lean towards the tangy, but I did find the blueberry lemon loaf to be a little sweet for my taste. The upper crust portion was very sweet and had a feel similar to that of Costco muffins, specifically the coffee cake flavor.
Where's The Lemon Flavor?
My major complaint with the blueberry lemon loaf is the lack of lemon flavor. After tasting a few slices, it was quite hard to pick out the lemon flavor, and I could barely notice it.
The sign at Costco does say the loaf is made with lemon batter and lemon icing, but the flavor is sparse. I definitely wouldn’t have put lemon in the name, considering how light the flavor is.
Overall I really enjoyed the blueberry lemon loaf, and it won’t last long at my house.
Costco's Blueberry Lemon Loaf Calories and Nutrition
Most items from the Costco bakery don’t have the best nutritional profile, and their Blueberry Lemon Loaf is no exception. One serving size is 1/10th of the loaf and has 340 calories. The 340 calories come from 18 grams of fat, 42 grams of carbs, and 5 grams of protein. The full nutritional profile is as follows.
So obviously, this isn’t the best nutritional profile, but this is expected as it can be considered a dessert item. I have no problem eating this for breakfast, but it isn’t something that I would want to do regularly.

Can you freeze Costco's Blueberry Lemon Loaf
Yes, you can freeze the blueberry lemon loaf. Most Costco bakery items do really well when frozen. You need to wrap the blueberry lemon loaf in plastic wrap and then place it in a zip-loc bag.
I recommend cutting the loaf into slices before freezing. This will make it easier to take out what you want to eat, and it will help with portion control.
How to Defrost The Blueberry Lemon Loaf
If you freeze the blueberry lemon loaf, it can simply be defrosted by leaving it overnight in the refrigerator.
If you can’t help yourself and don’t want to wait overnight for the blueberry lemon loaf to defrost, then you can heat it in the microwave at 30% power in 30-second increments until it is defrosted.
Does the Blueberry Lemon Loaf from Costco need to be heated?
No, the blueberry lemon loaf doesn’t need to be heated to be eaten, but it can be. It can be eaten at room temperature, heated up or even cold from the refrigerator. I personally think the loaf is best at room temperature.
