Don Miguel Egg & Sausage Breakfast Burritos at Costco

Costco sells Don Miguel Egg & Sausage Breakfast Burritos for $11.99. The breakfast burritos can be found in the refrigerated deli area near the chicken flautas, carnitas, and barbacoa meat.

Each package will contain 6 individually wrapped breakfast burritos weighing 7 ounces each. This is a very solid size for a breakfast burrito!

Don Miguel Breakfast Burrito Ingredients

Don Miguel Breakfast Burritos are made with cage free eggs, sausage made from pork that is raised without antibiotics, two cheeses, potatoes, and green chiles, all which are wrapped in a hand-stretched flour tortilla.

The Don Miguel Brand

In addition to these breakfast burritos, Don Miguel also sells mini tacos both frozen and refrigerated. The frozen mini tacos were a miss, but I thoroughly enjoyed the refrigerated mini tacos.

I do have some hope for these Costco breakfast burritos because they are refrigerated and not frozen.

Costco Cost Comparison & Pricing

The Don Miguel breakfast burritos go for $11.99 at Costco or $2 per breakfast burrito.

This is a fairly normal price for Costco’s breakfast options and quite reasonable considering the breakfast burritos are refrigerated and not frozen

Costco Breakfast Option Price Comparison

$2 seems to be right on par for Costco’s breakfast options. The chart below shows a price comparison for some of the breakfast options that I have tasted including this breakfast burrito.

Costco Breakfast Option Pricing

ItemPrice
Don Miguel Breakfast Burrito$2.00
Bacon Gouda Egg Breakfast Sandwich$1.62
Red's Egg'wich (Keto Friendly)$1.75
Plant Based Breakfast Sandwich$2.16

The Don Miguel Breakfast Burritos are going to be one of the more expensive options, but will also easily contain the most amount of food. This sandwich will not leave you hungry.

Costco Breakfast Burrito Taste Test

Amazing in the Air Fryer

First, I have to say that I love the paper wrapper. A lot of frozen burritos use a plastic wrapper, and the paper wrapper always gives a slightly higher quality feel.

I opted to cook these Breakfast burritos using my air fryer and I have listed my air fryer cooking directions below.

Crispy Air Fryer Breakfast Burrito

My goal was to create a crispy, flakey, and crunchy tortilla wrapper around the breakfast burrito, and I did just that.

The Don Miguel burrito was warmed all the way through and had a very nice crunchy and satisfying bite. I couldn’t be happier with the hand-stretched tortilla.

Egg & Sausage

The ingredients in the breakfast burrito were good, but not amazing. There was a sufficient amount of sausage pieces in the burrito and the taste was just about right.

Because the egg is not frozen, it was pretty good. The texture really held up through the air fryer cooking process and didn’t detract as much as a frozen scrambled egg would have.

2 Cheeses?

The two cheeses were the most noticeable ingredient in each bite and almost overpowered the other flavors. I couldn’t really differentiate between the two cheeses that are supposed to be in the burrito as they appeared to have just melted together.

If you are a cheese fan, this breakfast burrito is for you.

Good Potatoes

The potatoes were soft and integrated into the burrito very well. Sometimes, you get those bites full of plain potatoes, but that didn’t happen to me with the burritos I have eaten so far.

The potatoes are present but forgettable as the dominant taste is cheese.

Where are the Green Chiles?

Don Miguel does include green chiles in the breakfast burritos, but I didn’t notice them much.

I thought there would have been some crunchy chile bites or a little bit of heat and spice in the burrito, but it was nonexistent.

A Lot of Filling!

There were a few pieces of green chile here and there, but I think the burrito could have benefited significantly with the addition of more chiles.

Solid Breakfast Burrito

Overall, the burrito isn’t bad. It definitely helps that the burritos are refrigerated and not frozen. The egg is palatable and the breakfast burrito is filling.

A lot of people think of gas stations burritos when they see a burrito like this, but this is definitely a notch above that. These refrigerated breakfast burritos are not going to last long in my household.

Don Miguel Breakfast Burrito Cooking Direction

How to Cook Don Miguel Breakfast Burritos from Costco

Don Miguel offers two heating options for their sausage and egg breakfast burritos and they are the microwave and conventional oven.

I like to use the microwave as little as possible and I don’t want to spend 25 minutes+ to cook breakfast food, so I experimented with my air fryer and will be including my crispy air fryer instructions as well.

The air fryer will be by far the best overall in convenience and taste!

Nutritional Information & Calories

How Many Calories in Costco's Breakfast Burrito?

One serving is going to be 1 breakfast burrito and will contain 480 calories. Those 480 calories will come from 21 grams of fat, a whopping 50 grams of carbs, and 22 grams of protein.

Surprising Nutritional Label

I’ve looked at plenty of nutritional labels, and even so, I have to say that these Costco Don Miguel Breakfast Burritos really surprised me with the amount of calories and carbs.

The 480 calories are on the high end but somewhat reasonable for the 7 ounce size of the burrito, but the carbs are quite a bit higher than I expected.

I was expecting closer to maybe 35-40 carbs, so the 50 bomb was a shocker. Other than that, the fat is higher, but acceptable, and the 22 grams of protein are nice.

Extremely High Sodium

The second big shocker on the nutritional label is going to be the 800 mg of sodium in each Costco breakfast burrito.

The 800 mg of sodium is 35% of the daily recommended value and quite a bit more than you want to take in for breakfast on a regular basis.

Summary

The Don Miguel brand has been hit or miss, but their refrigerated Don Miguel foods at Costco have impressed. The frozen foods may still have some issues, but this egg & sausage breakfast burrito from Costco is good.

The price is fair, and the meal is solid. The biggest issue is going to be the nutritional label which is heavy in carbs and sodium.
