Costco Starbucks Egg Bites - Worth It Or Overhyped?

Costco Starbucks Egg Bites

Starbucks Egg Bites at Costco

I’ve been a big fan of Costco’s Egg Bites by Three Bridges for the longest time, and I was shocked the other day when I noticed Costco started selling an official Starbucks version of the Egg Bites.

Another interesting Starbucks Copycat item is the Bacon Gouda Egg Breakfast Sandwich.

Only the Uncured Bacon & Gruyere Flavor Available at Costco

At physical Starbucks locations, they sell three different flavors of Egg bites: Kale & Mushroom, Bacon & Gruyere Egg Bites, and Egg White and Roasted Pepper Egg Bites.

Costco only sells the Bacon Gruyere flavor, so unfortunately, if you are looking for the other two options, you will still have to visit your local Starbucks.

The Uncured Bacon & Gruyere Costco Starbucks Sous Vide Egg Bites are made with cage-free eggs (hens are free roaming inside a barn), have 17 grams of protein per serving, and are gluten-free.

The Starbucks Egg Bites At Costco Cost $2.95 a Pack

Costco sells the ten count of Official Starbucks Egg Bites for $14.79. The egg bites are paired off into two, making a total of 5 packs for $2.95 a pack.

Costco sells a 4-pack (8 egg bites) of Three Bridges Egg Bites for $10.99 or $2.75 per two-pack. The Starbucks Egg Bites aren’t much more expensive than the Three Bridges version, which makes them very compelling when comparing the two options.

Costco Vs. The Competition

While these are very similar in price to Egg Bites by Three Bridges from Costco, they do offer quite the savings compared to buying egg bites at Starbucks.

At my local Starbucks, the egg bites sell for $4.45, which is almost $1.50 more than what the at-home version costs at Costco.

Costco Starbucks Egg Bites Taste Test

Interesting Appearance

First impressions of the Starbucks Egg Bites may not be the most appealing.  These are sous vide egg bites, so they have that sous vide look and, in this case, gave the egg bites a very smooth textureless shine.

Not a dealbreaker, and they did come out of the air fryer looking much better, but also not ideal.

They Came Out A Little Too Toasty

I did opt for the recommended air fryer heating method, and everything came out nicely. The egg bites did look a little burnt but tasted great and were still soft and creamy inside.

There was enough bacon to give it some nice flavor, and the egg flavor was present.

Better Egg Flavor

My one complaint with Costco’s other egg bites made by Three Bridges was that they had too much of a creamy taste, but I did not have the problem with these Starbucks egg bites.

Passes The Taste Test

My wife is also a big Starbucks fan and has tried their in-store egg bites before, and she said these were an exact replica of the in-store version.

She also thought they were delicious and even went back for another egg bite (The packs can be cut, so you don’t have to eat both egg bites at the same time).

Egg Bites Heating Instructions

There are three different methods to cook the Costco Egg Bites by Starbucks. They are already fully cooked but are best when reheated. Starbucks recommends using the air fryer to reheat their egg bites.

Overall, this is a solid nutritional profile. The fat is high, as expected, with cheese, egg, and bacon, and there is a very heaty amount of protein at 17 grams per serving.

The egg bites are a little carb heavy for what they are and aren’t necessarily the low-carb/keto snack they may appear to be.

There are some differences compared to Starbucks’ in-house Egg bites. Here is a comparison of both nutritional labels with the Costco Starbucks Egg Bites on the Left and the Starbucks Egg Bites (In House) on the right.

Are These The Exact Same They Sell in Starbucks?

These are official Egg Bites by Starbucks, but there are a few minor differences that make them different from those sold in stores. As we noted, the calorie count is slightly different between the two versions of the egg bites, and there are also minor ingredient changes.

The ingredient changes maybe can be explained by having to adjust the recipe to make an at-home version of the egg bite that stores better in the refrigerator.

Costco Starbucks Egg Bites Ingredients

So these are very similar and nearly identical to Starbucks’ in-store egg bites, it should be noted that these aren’t actually made by Starbucks. Starbucks has a partnership with Cuisine Solutions Inc, which is the manufacturer of the Starbucks Egg Bites from Costco.

Cuisine Solutions Inc is a white-label food company that specializes in sous vide products. Their website can be found here.

These are easy and so delicious, just like the ones at Starbucks but for almost half the cost. Did I mention easy, but I use the oven method. Just enough time to fix a cup of coffee and prepare myself for a good breakfast! Definitely will continue to buy them.
