Daphne's Beef and Lamb Gyro Slices Packaging

I’ve been in the mood for gyros recently and I’m currently trying out the different options that Costco has to offer. Daphne’s Beef and Lamb Gyro Slices are a convenient and cost-effective option for gyro lovers who don’t want to sacrifice taste.

Costco sells a 24oz pack of gyro slices for $12.99. The meat in this pack is already cooked and only needs to be heated on a sauté pan, making it a convenient option for quick DIY gyros!

Inside the packaging you see above, there are two more plastic bags containing the gyro slices. At first, I was confused about why the package wasn’t resealable but it didn’t bother me much after I found the two packs inside.

Gyro Slice Packs

This pack is quite versatile as it is easy to store and can make about eight gyros in my experience. With the two separate packs inside, it gives you the option only to make four if you want. You could quickly freeze this pack for long-term storage.

At my local Costco (Salt Lake City, UTthis pack cost me $12.99. This pack was located right by the deli section with the other prepackaged and refrigerated food. was able to locate a 12-pack of pita bread at Costco as well for $3.99.

I found you could make 8 gyros with the amount of gyro slices in the pack. After adding some lettuce and tzatziki sauce, I calculated each gyro to cost about $2.64. That’s a really good value!

If you add more ingredients like tomato and cucumber, that will go up a little bit, but it would still be cheaper than the Kirkland gyro kit that only makes 6 gyros for $3.32 each.

How do the Costco Gyro Slices taste?

I threw the slices on a pan at medium heat. There is no need to add oil to the pan, these slices come with oil coated on them. After about 5 minutes of sizzling, I took a bite and was very delighted with the flavor. The meat was much more flavorful than the meat in the Kirkland Gyro Kit.

Next, I started putting my gyro together. I heated a piece of pita in the microwave for 30 seconds. Then layered on some meat and tzatziki sauce, and topped with some chopped lettuce.

The Papa Pita flatbreads were the perfect size, and it was easy to pack all of the goods you wanted inside (a welcome change from the Kirkland Gyro Kit).

I can say that even without the tomato and cucumber, this gyro tasted amazing. The meat was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The grocery store tzatziki sauce tasted much better than the sauce included in Kirkland’s gyro kit.

Comparing Daphne’s Gyro Slices to the Kirkland Gyro Kit, I can say that it is worth it to buy the ingredients separately. The taste is better and the cost per gyro comes out to less than the Kirkland kit. Additionally, the pita bread was larger than the Kirkland kit’s bread, allowing you to pack these gyros more fully.

These slices are made with a blend of beef and lamb. They are already covered in oil inside the pack, so there is no need to add more oil.

I forgot to grab a picture of the back of the package, but I found this picture online.

Who is Daphne’s Gyro Slices pack for?

Daphne’s Gyro Slices provides excellent value for anyone craving gyros who doesn’t want to spend $7 or more for one Gyro at a restaurant. They are easy to prepare requiring minimal cooking, and took me less than 10 minutes to prepare 2 gyros.

Half of this pack could feed a family of 4, and I would prepare some fries as a side. This pack could also work for a single eater. I ate these by myself and saved the extra in the fridge for lunches over the next couple of days.

I am impressed with these gyro slices. Although less convenient than the Kirkland gyro kit, the better taste and value will always make me choose this option for at-home gyros.
