Costco Chicken Kabobs - How to Cook + Calories
Kirkland Signature Chicken Kabobs With Veggies at Costco
I always love new Costco finds, and if I see a new Kirkland Signature item or a new prepared meal, I almost always feel compelled to grab it. This weekend, I picked up Costco’s Chicken Thighs Kabobs for a little backyard grill session.
The chicken kabobs are found in the prepared meal section of the warehouse near other items such as the chicken tacos, chicken pot pie, and the rotisserie chicken.
The Costco chicken kabobs are made with chicken thighs, onions, and bell peppers and is seasoned with what Costco calls a Cuban seasoning (salt, dehydrated garlic, cane sugar, spices, and more).
This is a pretty simple and straightforward kabob that looks like it will hit the spot.

Costco Cost Comparison
Costco Lowered The Price
Price Update: As of August 2023, it appears that Costco has decreased the price to a much more reasonable $4.99 per pound. The total price for the chicken kabobs are now in the $8-$10 range.
Costco's Old Price For The Chicken Kabobs
Costco’s new chicken kabobs aren’t cheap by any means. They sell for $7.99 a pound, and most packages at my local Costco weigh about two pounds and contain 4 chicken skewers.
My 4 chicken kabobs weighed 1.92 pounds and cost a little over $15.
Overpriced at $8
At $8 a pound, I definitely have to say this on the pricey side. Costco sells boneless chicken thighs for $3.49 a pound, and onions and bell peppers cost less than that, so there is quite the markup on the chicken kabob.
Yes, they are convenient, as all you have to do is take them home and grill or bake them, but there is a price to pay for that convenience. If you are pressed for time, they may seem worth it for an easy, quick home meal, but otherwise, you will be much better off putting together your own chicken kabob skewers at home.
Chicken Kabob Taste Test
Cook Up Nicely On The Grill
I cooked the Costco chicken thigh kabobs on the grill for some extra charring and smoke flavor, and everything came out nicely. I followed the cooking instructions printed on the packaging, and my chicken kabob skewers had some beautiful grill marks and were cooked perfectly.
I love that Costco uses chicken thighs which helps keep the meat moist instead of quickly drying out.
Great Flavor - Moist Chicken
For flavor, I thought the chicken thigh kabobs were fantastic. The Cuban seasoning was a touch too salty, but aside from that, it brought some great flavor.
The chicken was moist, tender, and flavorful.
Worth The Buy For a Quick Meal
As a whole, these were really easy to eat, convenient, and delicious. No complaints about the actual food product itself.
I do think it was a little pricey, and if you aren’t rushing for time, you can easily recreate this meal for much less.
How To Cook Costco’s Chicken Kabobs
Cook On The Grill Or Broil In Oven
The nice thing about this Costco prepared meal is that there are two different cooking instructions for the chicken kabobs. The kabobs can be cooked on the grill or broiled in the oven.
I opted to cook the chicken skewers on the grill in order to get some of the delicious smokiness.
Grill Instructions for Chicken Kabobs
- Brush the grill rack with oil or spray with nonstick cooking spray.
- Heat to high heat.
- Cook for 12 to 17 minutes.
- Turn every 2 to 3 minutes to prevent burning.
- Cook to 165°F internal temperature.
Chicken Thigh Kabobs Broil Instructions
- Adjust oven rack so tops of kabobs are 5 to 8 inches from heat.
- Preheat the oven to broil.
- Coat a baking sheet lightly with nonstick cooking spray and place kabobs on the baking sheet.
- Cook for 15 to 20 minutes, turning kabobs once at 7 minutes to prevent burning.
For both cooking options, the chicken should be cooked to a minimum temperature of 165°F.
Costco Chicken Kabobs Calories and Nutrition
190 Calories Per Costco Chicken Kabob
One serving of Costco’s chicken kabobs is one skewer or about 8.25 ounces of food. Each serving contains 190 calories coming from 4.5 grams of fat, 8 grams of carbohydrates, and 30 grams of protein. The full nutritional label is below.
For the most part, Costco’s chicken kabobs have a pretty standard nutritional label for a kabob or chicken skewer. My big issue with Costco’s chicken kabob is the 8 grams of carbs per serving. The onion and bell peppers will bring a minuscule amount of carbs to the meal, so I assume the seasoning is heavy on sugar.
Realistically, this meal should be fairly low carb and closer to 2-3 grams of carbs per serving, but Costco has added in a carbohydrate heavy seasoning that may make this less than ideal for those on a low carb diet.
