Costco Boba Milk Tea Set - Flavor Review
J-Way Taiwan Boba Milk Tea Variety Set
Costco sells a 10-Drink Variety Set of J-Way Taiwan Boba Milk Tea for $14.49. I’ve seen this boba milk tea set at a few different Costco locations, and sometimes it’s located in Costco’s beverage area near the back, and other times in the pantry and dry goods portion of the warehouse.
The Boba Milk Tea set includes 10 tea powder packets, 10 instant boba packets, and 10 paper straws. Cups are not included, and you will need to provide your own hot water and ice.

Boba Milk Tea Variety Set Flavors
This boba milk tea variety set is pretty neat as it comes with 4 different flavors. They are:
- Classic Milk Tea With Brown Sugar Boba
- Taro Milk Tea With Brown Sugar Boba
- Creme Brulee Milk Tea With Caramel Boba
- Passion Fruit Pineapple Green Tea With Fruity Boba
This is a good variety of flavors, and it’s fun to lay out the packets and pick out a boba flavor.
Costco Boba Options
Costco carries several different boba options in addition to this boba milk tea set. If you want another quick and easy instant boba, I recommend the Instant Boba Kit.Â
They also have some brown sugar boba mochi snacks and even a brown sugar boba ice cream, both of which are super flavorful and delicious.
Costco Cost Comparison
How Much Does The Boba Set Cost at Costco?
The 10-pack variety set of boba Milk Tea Drinks sells for $14.49 at Costco. This breaks down to an easy $1.50 per drink. For comparison, Costco’s instant boba sells for $0.92 a serving.
This is a fair price for at-home boba, as most boba shops sell their drinks for $5+. This is a great way to save yourself a trip to the boba shop and make your drink for â…“ of the cost.Â
One thing to note is that the Costco boba drinks are much much smaller than what you would find from a boba shop.
Costco Cost Comparison
These J Way Taiwan Boba Milk Tea Sets are fairly popular and are sold online at a few different retailers.Â
Jwayfoods.com sells a 6-pack of brown sugar boba milk tea for $17.99 or $3 per pack.
Amazon.com sells a 3-pack for $10.99 or $3.67 per boba tea drink.
Costco comes out ahead in price and provides some great value at only half the price. The Costco pack also contains multiple flavors to try and enjoy.
Boba Milk Tea Taste Test
After trying each of the flavors, I have to say they are pretty good for what they are. They are fairly quick and convenient to make, but some of the boba flavors just didn’t do it for me.
The boba itself was fine; it was chewy and tasty. I enjoyed the boba tapioca balls more when I boiled them instead of microwaving them. Not the best boba, but no major complaints.
Classic Milk Tea Boba
Knowing my taste buds, I expected the Classic Milk Tea Boba to be my favorite, but it was extremely disappointing.Â
The flavor was light, and there was an aftertaste that I just couldn’t get past that turned me off from the drink.
Taro Milk Tea Boba
Taro is a boba flavor I never would have ordered in a boba shop, but the taste really surprised me. It was intense and flavorful, but maybe a touch too sweet.Â
Creme Brulee Milk Tea Boba
The creme brulee is a rather unique boba flavor, and I thought it worked out well. The taste was much more full than the classic milk tea, and the caramel boba flavor was the perfect compliment. This was my favorite of the boba tea flavors.
Passion Fruit Pineapple
The passion fruit pineapple tea had an extremely fruity smell and taste. There was a bit of tartness, which was nice, but it was too sweet for me. This was easy to fix by just adding some additional water. Â
Size Matters
My biggest complaint with the Costco Boba Milk Tea set is how small the actual boba drinks turned out.Â
The instructions say to use only 4 ounces of total liquid and 7 ounces of ice. Some of the ice will melt, but even then, the drinks are on the smaller side.
How to Make Costco’s Boba Milk Tea - Directions
There are 3 steps to making these DIY boba milk teas from Costco.
1. Prepare The Boba
With Microwave
- Make a small tear in the boba packet.
- Microwave the packet for 18 seconds (1200 Watts). If the boba is not chewy after 18 seconds, microwave for 5 seconds longer at a time, until the desired consistency. (Caution Hot)
Stove Top
- Boil Water
- Put an unopened packet over a continued boil for 180 seconds. (Caution Hot)
2a. Prepare The Milk Tea Boba
- Prepare 2 ounces of hot water in a cup.
- Pour a packet of milk tea powder into the cup and mix until the powder is dissolved.
- Add 7 ounces of ice and stir.
- Add 2 more ounces of water or milk (cold) and stir.
2b. Prepare the Passion Fruit Tea
- Prepare 2 ounces of hot water in a cup.
- Pour a packet of milk tea powder into the cup and mix until the powder is dissolved.
- Add 7 ounces of ice and stir.
- Add 2 more ounces of water and stir.
The only difference between the milk tea boba instructions and the passion fruit tea is that you cannot use milk in the fruit tea boba.
3. Boba + Milk Tea + Straw
- Pour the boba into the milk tea cup, and serve with a straw.Â
- Enjoy
Tip: For more chewy boba, allow the drink to sit for 4 minutes before consuming.
Taiwan Boba Milk Tea Nutrition and Calories
Now for the unfun part, the nutritional label. These Costco boba drinks are meant to be a tasty and fun drink and don’t really provide much nutritionally.
Each drink will have 200+ calories and is heavy on both carbohydrates and sugar.
