Costco Margherita Pizza - Is It Worth It? + Cook Directions
Roma Vicolo Margherita Pizza at Costco
On my most recent Costco trip, I found a new Margherita pizza in Costco’s refrigerated deli area. Typically, most of the pizzas that Costco sells are frozen pizzas, so I just had to try the refrigerated Margherita pizza. I’m expecting it to be fresh and have a crispier crust than Costco’s frozen pizza options.
Costco sells the Roma Vicolo Margherita pizza in a 3-pack weighing a total of 28.8 ounces. Each pizza is individually wrapped and weighs approximately 9.5 ounces. The pizzas aren’t the largest by any means, but they are more than adequate as a personal-sized pizza.
Thing To Note: These pizzas are made in Hayward, CA.

What’s so special about the Margherita pizza?
This Margherita pizza includes typical ingredients such as marinara sauce, mozzarella, olive oil, and basil. Roma Vicolo also labels the crust as a roman style pizza crust, which is a thin crispy, airy crust. They make their roman crust with a cold fermentation process that improves flavor and crispiness.
Costco Cost Comparison
Costco sells the three-pack of Margherita pizza for $14.99 or $5 per pizza. I think the price is more than fair for a fresh personal-sized pizza. Most of Costco’s frozen pizzas are priced in this range but are lacking in the freshness that this Margherita pizza provides.
For comparison, My local Sprouts sells the same Roma Vicolo pizza for $10.49 or nearly double Costco’s price. The only benefit to purchasing the pizza from Sprouts is that they have a larger selection of inventory. Sprouts has flavors such as Pepperoni and Bacon, Italian Sausage, and Roasted Mushroom. If you prefer Margherita pizza, then Costco has a nearly unbeatable price of $5 per pizza.
Margherita Pizza Taste Test
I had some high hopes for this pizza, and thankfully, I can say the pizza didn’t disappoint. The crust was crispy and crunchy as advertised, and the ingredients of mozzarella and basil tasted very fresh.
The ingredients were flavorful and enjoyable. The mozzarella was creamy and melted nicely over the crust. The basil added an excellent aromatic component that complemented the cheese.
If I had one complaint, it would be that the ingredients weren’t necessarily evenly spread over the pizza. This may have been caused in transportation, but half my pizza was covered in mozzarella cheese while the other half was somewhat bare.
Overall, it is a very solid pizza that is easily superior to a frozen pizza. It is on the smaller end and meant for one meal or for two people to share, but I am satisfied with it. My wife and I both enjoyed it, and we would gladly buy it from Costco again.

Grill:
- Pizza should be thawed before grilling.
- Preheat the grill until hot. Place unwrapped pizza on the grill.
