Costco Frozen Pizza Taste Hacks!
Most people don’t think twice on how to cook a frozen pizza aside from just following the instructions, but there are some crucial tips and hacks that can significantly improve the taste and appearance of your frozen pizzas.
I have included the cooking directions for Costco’s frozen pizzas below so you can skip these tips if you just want the cooking instructions, but I do recommend at least taking a look. You might find one or two of the cooking tips helpful for you.
1. Thaw Your Frozen Pizza
Who said frozen pizza had to be frozen at the time of cooking? Thaw your pizza for 1 or 2 hours in the fridge before cooking. The pizza will more closely emulate that from a pizza shop, and the crust will be significantly more crispy.
Make sure not to exceed more than 1 hour at room temperature as bacteria can begin to grow.

Keep in mind, if you do thaw your pizza beforehand, you cannot use the officially provided pizza cooking directions from Costco, as the pizza is no longer frozen.
The cooking time should be reduced to 5-8 minutes, depending on the oven temperature. Always rely on appearance to ensure the pizza is fully cooked.
2. Brush The Crust
I know I’m often guilty of eating just the pizza and trashing the crust, as it can be plain, boring, and brittle.
Fix this by brushing some olive oil onto the crust halfway through the cook. Toss on some cheese or garlic powder for extra flavor!

3. Cook Directly On the Rack
We’ve all heard the saying “cardboard crust,” and in fact, I may have even used that phrase to describe a few of the frozen pizza options at Costco. This doesn’t have to be the case and can be fixed by simply placing the pizza directly onto the oven rack. Don’t use a baking tray or foil, but just throw it directly into the oven.
A few other great options are a pizza stone or a cast iron skillet.
4. Add Fresh Ingredients
I consider Costco’s frozen pizzas a good base for building your at-home gourmet pizza. This is especially true with a cheese pizza, which can be transformed into anything ranging from a Hawaiian pizza to a bbq chicken pizza. Costco’s pepperoni pizzas are a good base for a meat lover’s pizza.

You don’t have to accept every frozen pizza as-is and don’t be shy about adding your own toppings.
4. More Cheese Please
Most of Costco’s frozen pizzas can benefit from the addition of more cheese. Any shredded cheese will do, but if you feel fancy, add some mozzarella, goat cheese, or aged parmesan.

5. Season to Taste
Sprinkle chopped garlic, basil, or oregano on to upgrade any frozen pizza. If you don’t have those on hand, no problem; use what you find in your spice cabinet.
I recommend Italian seasoning, garlic powder, or even some spicy seasoning.
6. Ignore The Recommended Heating Methods
Yes, the entire purpose of this article is to give you the cooking directions for Costco’s frozen pizzas, but what if I told you there was a better way to cook the pizza. Again, we want to emulate pizza shops as closely as possible, which means cooking at high heat.

Most of the Costco pizza directions call for ~400°F oven temperature, but a better option is to cook at the highest temperature your oven can cook at.
My max oven temperature is 500°F, and I found that cooking frozen pizzas for 6-8 minutes produced some extra crispy crust and melty, gooey cheese.
