Costco Granola - Ancient Grains (Kirkland) - Best in Class?
Kirkland Signature Organic Ancient Grains Granola at Costco
Costco sells a 35.3-ounce (2 Pounds 3.3 ounces) bag of Kirkland Signature Ancient Grain Probiotic Granola for $8.89. I found the granola in Costco’s Pantry and Dry Goods area of the store near other items such as the Dried Mangoes, Paleo Bars, and Keto Granola.
This Costco granola is organic and vegan and will contain 5 grams of protein, 6 grams of fiber, and 30 grams of whole grains per serving.
The ancient grain granola is a highly nutritious food and a great addition to most diets.
Ancient Grains Granola is produced in the USA from domestic and imported ingredients.

Costco Ancient Grains Granola Ingredients
The Kirkland Signature Ancient Grains Granola includes Granola, Kamut Khorasan Wheat, Spelt, Almonds, Quinoa, & Amaranth.Â
I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t know what exactly the ancient grains are in this Costco granola, but it looks fantastic and sounds super healthy.Â
Probiotic Cultures
In addition to the ingredients mentioned above, the granola is packed with probiotic cultures to help support immune and digestive health.
Combine this Costco Ancient grains probiotic granola with Kirkland Signature Greek Yogurt, and you’ll get a monstrous probiotic boost.
White Label
There are plenty of Kirkland Signature items at Costco, many of which have unknown producers.
The Kirkland Signature Granola takes the opposite approach by directly giving credit to Nature’s Path.
I don’t know the official reason why some companies put their brand out there for the world to see while others are more secretive about who is making the actual product.
But, I am happy to see that Nature’s Path is proud of its granola and eager and willing to put its name on the bag.Â
Costco Cost Comparison
How Much does Kirkland Signature Ancient Grains Granola Cost?
Costco sells their Kirkland Signature Ancient Grains Probiotic Granola for $8.89, but I was able to pick it up for a $2.40 discount at a price of $6.49.Â
This discount of 27% brings the Costco granola down to an absolutely fantastic steal of a price.
The price per pound when the product is on sale is staggeringly low at $2.95.
Costco vs The Competition
This is a Kirkland Signature Granola, so there are no direct competitors when it comes to this particular product.
Target does sell a 10-ounce bag of ancient granola from another brand for $5.29 or $8.46 per pound.
Tom Thumb/Safeway sells that same brand of ancient grain granola for $9.98 a pound.
I am confident that Costco is going to offer by far the best value for any Ancient Grains Granola.
Costco Probiotic Granola - Taste Test
Visually, the granola looks terrific. The granola bits are appropriately sized, with the largest pieces right around the size of a peanut M&M.
You can also clearly see the advertised ingredients in the clumps themselves.
Sugar Sheen
The Costco granola does have 8 grams of added sugar, and the sugar is relatively visible in the granola.
A sugar sheen coats all the pieces, and if you look closely, you can see tiny individual sugar specks on each piece.
Amazing Taste
For taste, the granola is delicious. The granola, as a whole, has a nice mix of sweetness and subtle saltiness.
The sweetness is the most prominent flavor by far, and it can override and overshadow some of the flavors of the seeds and grains.
I would have liked a little less sugar for a granola item that is organic, full of probiotics, and contains powerful ancient grains.
Personally, if I’m choosing granola like this, I don’t need any additional sugars.
I love them
The whole-grain oats are great, and the Ancient Grains add a very nice texture that blends together seamlessly. The Costco granola is delicious and goes great with cereal or as a topping for yogurt or other dessert options.
How to Serve and Eat Kirkland Signature Ancient Grain Granola
The simplest way to eat this granola is to eat it as cereal. Get the granola, a bowl, and some milk, and you have a great healthy way to start the day.
The nutritional facts even measure one serving size as 3/4 cup of cereal.
My favorite use for this Costco granola is as a topping. I love homemade greek yogurt, granola, and berry bowls. That’s my go-to healthy snack that is also delicious.Â
It’s reasonable in calories, delicious, and packed with probiotics which are great for the gut. Â
This granola makes an excellent topping for ice cream or Acai bowls. The Costco acai bowls already come with coconut granola, but I prefer the ancient grains’ flavor. They add a nice crunch and texture that can spruce up any dessert or smoothie.
Â
The granola is also an excellent addition to salads!
Costco Organic Ancient Grain Granola - Nutritional Information & Calories
How Many Calories in Costco's Granola?
One Serving of this Kirkland Signature Ancient Grain Granola will be 3/4 cup and contains 250 calories. The 250 calories will come from 9 grams of fat, 39 grams of carbs (8 grams of added sugars), and 5 grams of protein.
This is a standard granola nutritional label. Granola with seeds, nuts, and grains will usually be slightly higher in fats (healthy fats) and high in carbs.
The downside to this granola is the 8 grams of added sugar and the low amount of protein. I’m a big believer that most foods don’t need added sugars. In my opinion, this Costco granola will be just as satisfying without the additional sugar.
